Google Gmail advertising and cookie consent decision in France

CNIL investigated commercial advertising placed in Gmail message lists and the placement of advertising cookies on devices of users creating Google accounts. The French authority announced a EUR 325 million administrative fine in September 2025, together with an injunction and requirements concerning consent.
